Inside Courteney Cox’s Malibu Home

You’ve loved her on Friends and Cougar Town, but what you didn’t know about Courteney Cox is that she once studied design. You can see her eye for beauty in this exclusive collection of furniture and accessories from her gorgeous Malibu home. Whether you’re looking for a sleek upholstered piece or an edgy modernist table, these beloved pieces will give your home a fresh new look. READ ON TO LEARN about her personal design style and what makes these pieces special to her.

Describe your personal design aesthetic.
A mixture of different styles that complement each other to create a comfortable, homey environment.

What is your go-to source for inspiration?
I love to look through Pinterest, wander flea markets and the store Galerie Half, and flip through design books, especially Ellen Degeneres’ Home. She is amazing!

What’s the best design advice you’ve ever received?
I learned this from Trip Haenish:

Interior architecture (the box) is the primary. You need to get the box perfect before you worry about the furniture, lighting, etc. You can’t cover up bad interior architecture with beautiful furniture. If the box is perfect, the furniture part is easy.

On the other hand, I say… if you’re stuck with a crappy box, decorate the shit out of it so no one notices!

What’s your favorite furniture/ accessory “steal” in your home? Your favorite splurge?
My favorite steals are the wooden boxes and old oil paintings that I’ve collected from flea markets just outside of London.

My splurge is the Jean Prouvé desk I bought for my bedroom.

What’s one designer you would love to own a piece from?
I would have said Jean Prouvé but I just treated myself to one of his desks.

What’s your favorite room in your home?
My kitchen / family room, because it overlooks the ocean and it’s where everyone congregates.

Share a little bit about the pieces you’re consigning on Viyet, e.g., do any have unique back stories, in what kind of space do you hope they end up, etc.?
All of the pieces are ones that I have enjoyed over the years.

I’ve lived in around ten homes in Los Angeles, and a lot of these pieces have made it through all of them.

From my office to where I live now, I hope these pieces end up standing out in someone’s home as unique accents.

What do you love about Viyet?
It’s a great resource for bargains on designer items!
