A new season brings a fresh perspective — and a good excuse to indulge in something fabulous for our homes. From the new trends that have caught our eye to the sights (and even scents!) that are inspiring us, here’s a rundown of the things that will make this autumn amazing.
The easiest update for any room? A stylish new rug. The layered look that works for our fall wardrobes also works for décor, giving a space a boho-chic look. Pair solids with Ikat, or pile on the pattern (like with Mehraban’s Vintage Moroccan High Atlas Tribe Rug). You can’t go wrong.
A single piece of furniture in an au courant color (think: merlot, deep orange, and taupe) is enough to enliven a room. Upholstered anchor pieces like chairs (such as the 19th-Century French Bergère Armchair) make the biggest splash, but even a pillow can be the décor equivalent of adding red lipstick to an outfit.
Form + Function
Photographer Sally Gall’s large-scale photographs (above, “Gust”) feature everyday objects transformed into abstract shapes, reminding us of how there’s always a new point of view. Her exhibition is currently on display at the Julie Saul Gallery.
Artist Zuza Mengham’s stunning scent sculptures imagine what an exotic scent would look like if we could “see” them with our eyes. These incredible works will be on display for a limited time at the Conran Shop, but afterwards you can shop Laboratory Perfume’s range of fragrances and candles that inspired them.
A cozy library beckons for fall. Our curators just made a major coup with a unique collection of leather-bound books that elevate and enrich your study. You simply can’t go wrong with a set of Jane Austin’s best works.
Animal-inspired décor and organic shapes bring a dash of daring to interiors. This is a trend that’s definitely on the upswing. Our current favorite? Ralph Lauren’s Kendrick Vase and Pitcher Set.
Take a risk with boldly patterned fabrics from the world’s top designers, now available at Viyet. Made of the finest materials, these fabrics are ideal for giving upholstered pieces an updated look.
Gold, silver, and bronze bring an element of shine that’s more than welcome as the days grow shorter. Alexander Lamont’s Bronze Twisted Stem Vases bring to mind the organic textures of the autumn season.
