Stiffel Lamps was founded in 1932 by Ted Stiffel, who combined his fine arts background with an appreciation for innovative craftsmanship. To this day, the company makes all of its designs in a 40,000-square-foot studio in New Jersey. Here’s just one of the many designs that make this brand renowned: the Stiffel Vintage Four-Arm Table Light. The four-armed design is undoubtedly traditional in style, yet the polished nickel material and unique proportions give the lamp a modern feel.
Baker furniture began in Michigan in 1890. By the 1960s, they opened a manufacturing facility in North Carolina, where artisans continue to craft high-quality pieces. The Baker Traditional Upholstered Sofa is an example of their fine craftsmanship, with its curved back and arms and tailored upholstery.
Michael Berman Limited
Michael Berman Limited and Bronze Studio in Los Angeles make exceptional custom bench-made pieces for the design trade. The Mandarin Linen Occasional Chair is a fine example of the studio’s work, with its beautiful chestnut frame and beautiful blue print linen fabric. The Lucerne Mahogany Buffet has a tobacco mahogany finish and a parchment finish on its three doors, which are enhanced by its circle pulls.
Gina Berschneider’s California showroom offers lighting, accessories, and furniture, most of it made by craftsman in her Southern California workroom. The Willa Slipper Chair is upholstered in a vintage linen-cotton blend and has a graceful alder wood frame. It has a gathered fabric base and would look wonderful as an occasional chair in the living room or bedroom. The Lucie Cocktail Table features a gorgeous silver gilt iron base and has a beveled glass top. Artfully angular, the design proves that handcrafted furniture can take a modern form.
Desiron has a New York City showroom and focuses on modern furnishings — but what you may not know is that all Desiron pieces are handcrafted by skilled artisans in a nearby atelier. This craftsmanship is demonstrated in pieces like this magnificent Vintage Anchor Chain Cocktail Table. The thick starfire ultra-clear glass top allows you to see the sculptural rusted chain link base. The Acadia Dining Table would look exquisite in your contemporary dining room with its angled lines of oiled bronze and solid walnut top.
