A Closer Look at Christopher Kennedy’s Palm Springs Chic Style

Palm Springs, California is one of the few cities that immediately evoke a distinct style. In this case, it’s a certain mid-century glamour: low-slung architecture, pops of optimistic color, and, of course in-home wet bars and conversation pits. Designer Christopher Kennedy nods to that fabulous lifestyle with his interior designs, which combine vintage influences with a distinct modern energy.

Here’s a closer look at some of our favorite projects of his, along with select pieces from Viyet for bringing a touch of Palm Springs chic into your own home.

Why We Love It: The exterior of this home reminded us of the classic Slim Aarons photo, “Poolside Gossip.” Inside, the vibrant colors lend warmth to the modern architecture, which can often read as cold spaces. The biggest surprise, though, has to be that luxe study. It’s the perfect case study of how to combine textures, from the shag rug to the lustrous wood paneling.

Get The Look: We were inspired by the way Kennedy styled the sideboard with large-scale artwork, accent chairs, and sculptural lamps.

Why We Love It: The white walls maximize the light in this stunning home, while bringing the focus to Kennedy’s sophisticated decor scheme. Though the furnishings are predominantly neutral, focused pops of color, pattern, and varying textures bring plenty of interest.

Get The Look: We loved how Kennedy incorporated Lucite and glass in the living room.

Why We Love It: Though the home is on the smaller side, it feels just so spacious. The furniture arrangements create intimate “rooms” within the open floor plan. Focused use of color, shape, and scale also helps define the space.

Get The Look: We were drawn to the layered textures in the combination dining and living area, which give the space a cozy vibe.
