Featured Designer | Paige Pierce

We at Viyet admire original, fresh designs that improve upon contemporary trends. Designer Paige Pierce’s unique style embodies this authenticity while adding charm and comfort. Her New York City experience merges with her current residence in Los Angeles resulting in unique spaces that have a bi-coastal feel and pay attention to artistic motifs. We had the chance to ask her a few questions about the summer season, her approach to design, and a couple of her favorite Viyet products.

What inspired this career path for you?

I was working for Diane von Furstenberg as the Licensing and Business Development Manager when she started to launch a Home line. There was a fabric line with Scalamandre in the works at the time and I knew that as much as I loved fashion, Interiors was my true calling.

What is your go-to source for inspiration?

Instagram! I found a great decorative painter and awning source just last week thru other designers and vendors that I follow. It is a wealth of inspiration.

Tell us about your creative process.

I like to spend as much time as possible with the client at the beginning so I can understand how they live and use their home. I have them go thru design books so that they can mark things they like and don’t like. I end up going thru all of my favorites again as well and rediscovering things that I had bookmarked.

Describe your style in 6 words or less.

Updated traditional, eclectic, fun, livable!

Antique 19th Century Leaf Sconces

What are the biggest trends you see in interior design right now and what are you loving (and not loving)?

The return to classics. Trendy can be such a bad choice for interiors. I like to design spaces that will look just as fresh 10 years down the road as they did when we first installed. I love that fabric houses are going back to the archives and bringing back old patterns in fresh colors.

What’s a staple in your toolkit?

Wallpaper – it does wonders to warm up a room.

Janus et Cie Byron Bench and Arbor Table

If you could design a space for anyone, what kind of space and for whom would it be?

I am a sucker for great rooms. I love the idea of a big multi-functional room where families are going to entertain, eat, and cuddle up on a sofa for movie time. There are endless opportunities in the space – game tables, double sided sofas, pretty built-in bars, etc. My favorite part of a project is always an install when you see the kids jumping on the sofa and playing with all of their fun new trinkets!

Merida Stratum Glacier Rug

Tell us your favorite design related word, phrase, or quote.

“Layering.” I think layering is one of the most important parts of a design scheme and often the most overlooked by clients. It can be hard at the end of a project to think about throwing more money at the little things, but they are so impactful!

Which design blog, website, TV show, or magazing would you be lost without?

I can get sucked into anything HGTV and love tearing thru House Beautiful. I have stacks and stacks of past issues in my office.

Vintage Control Bubble Glass Objects

What do you love about Viyet?

Viyet offers a wonderfully curated marketplace. There are so many options today and it is great to have a place where you know everything you see is high quality and most times shown in an accompanying vignette.
