Design Dispatch | Wendy Haworth

A fan of classic film, designer Wendy Haworth was more than pleased to work on a corporate project for Broadway Building, which is located at the corner of Hollywood and Vine in the epicenter of old Hollywood, with a view of the iconic Capitol Records building. She shares with Viyet her project and her favorite places to eat and shop in Hollywood.

Hollywood has gone through a huge transformation in the 10 years that I’ve lived in LA, and one of my favorite things to do is discover old Hollywood haunts. Here is my short list:

Eating

Musso & Frank – one of my favorite restaurants in LA – and one of the oldest. I love to sit at the bar and have a martini with a wedge salad.

Bars / nightlife / entertainment

The Spare Room at the Hollywood Roosevelt Hotel. It’s a great place to have incredible cocktails and bowl with friends in this tucked-away bar.

Hotel Café – A small venue for live music.

Grauman’s Chinese Theater – A gorgeous historical theater.

Shopping

Lost and Found – Such a great shop that comprises 3 adjacent storefronts selling women’s and children’s clothing and housewares.

Arcana Books – A great resource for architecture and design books. I love vintage books and magazines. It gives me a nice starting-off point and hopefully keeps things trend-free. I love reinventing things from the past and translating them into the present. I feel if it still looks good from today’s point of view, it’s probably going to have longevity. I also love foreign shelter magazines to get a perspective that’s a little further away from Los Angeles.
