What inspired this career path for you?

I’ve got a creative background: I studied fine art in college, and worked in fashion after school. When I moved to LA, a friend and I used to throw these elaborate, themed parties. After a particularly ambitious one, a guest asked us to design her house. Things grew organically after that; I’ve been working on interiors ever since.

What is your go-to source for inspiration?

If I’m honest? Pinterest.

Tell us about your creative process. Respect the architecture, understand the client’s goals, and then listen to my gut; my first instinct is usually best.

Describe your style in 6 words or less.

Colorful. Accessorized. Comfortable. Preppie. Californian (by way of Connecticut). Happy.

What are the biggest trends you see in interior design right now and what are you loving (and not loving)?

There’s definitely a trend toward authenticity, artisanship, and an appreciation of quality, and I couldn’t be happier.

What’s a staple in your toolkit? An architectural scale and my iPhone charger. I’m OCD about charging everything.

Who do you look up to in the design world? Peter Dunham.  And my design partner, Max Humphrey. They’re the first two designers I’d ask to decorate my own house.

If you could design a space for anyone, what kind of space and for whom would it be? A small hotel, or vacation home, somewhere on a beach. For a client who wants help collecting art.

Tell us your favorite design-related phrase, or quote. “Good. Fast. Cheap. Pick two.”

Which design blog, website, TV show, or magazine would you be lost without?

Does Instagram count? It’s basically my social life.

What do you love about Viyet?

The issue of what to do with rooms full of client’s old furniture has been given a solution; and for that we love Viyet.  In the past, clients have had to take a loss when redesigning, but now they have the option to sell their things at market value and recoup some expense, which is fantastic.  In addition, we have a new shopping resource, which is always a great thing!
